A website that is fast, findable, and built to be quoted by AI.
Most sites are built to look good and rank in Google. That is table stakes now. I hand-code sites that also give AI search the structure it needs to read you and name you, so you show up when someone asks ChatGPT for a recommendation instead of typing into a search bar.
What "AI-first" actually means
People search in three ways now: Google, answer engines, and AI chatbots. A site built for the first is invisible to the other two, and that is where a growing share of buyers now start. Around 45% of people use AI to find local services, up from 6% a year ago, yet AI tools name only about 1% of local businesses. The gap is enormous, and it is early enough that the businesses filling it now will be the ones AI keeps quoting later.
An AI-first build closes that gap on purpose. It is fast, so people and crawlers stay. It is structured with schema, so machines can read who you are. And the content is written as clear answers, because AI quotes the source that states things plainly. You get a site that works for the way search happens now.

Built to be named, not just found.
A site AI cannot read gets skipped. Clean HTML and schema tell the machines who you are, so they can quote you when someone asks.

The qualities that actually matter.
Not a wishlist. The four things that decide whether a site earns its keep.
Fast enough to keep people
Every build targets 100 on desktop across all four PageSpeed categories. Speed changes rankings and conversions, and it decides whether a distracted reader stays long enough to act.
Structured to be quoted
Clean semantic HTML, Person, Service and FAQ schema, and content written as clear answers. This is what lets ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews read your site and name you.
Responsive and accessible
Mobile-first, tested across screen sizes, and built to accessibility standards. It reads well and works properly whether someone finds you on a phone at a bus stop or a desktop at their desk.
Hand-coded, not templated
A custom Next.js application deployed to Vercel, not a page-builder theme carrying weight it does not need. You own clean code with nothing bloated bolted on.
Everything that comes with a build.
- ✓A custom Next.js website, up to six pages plus the required legal pages, hand-coded and deployed to Vercel via GitHub.
- ✓A 100 desktop PageSpeed target across Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO.
- ✓SEO, AEO and GEO structure built into every page from the first line of code.
- ✓Schema markup AI can read: Person, ProfessionalService, Service and FAQPage.
- ✓GDPR-compliant cookie consent with Google Consent Mode v2.
- ✓A mobile-first, accessible layout designed to be easy to read and easy to act on.
Four steps, no mystery.
You always know what happens next. Nothing gets sprung on you, and you see proof before launch, not after.
Scope and structure
We agree the pages, the message each one carries, and the keywords and questions the site needs to answer. This is where AEO and GEO start, before a single line of code.
Copy and content
Clear, answerable copy comes first, because AI quotes clarity, not cleverness. If your words are ready we shape them. If they are not, we write them together.
Build and structure the data
I hand-code the site in Next.js, wire in the schema, and build the responsive, accessible layout. Every page is structured so search and AI can read it properly.
Test, prove and launch
We run PageSpeed, check the schema, test across devices, then deploy to Vercel. You get a site you can inspect and a test link you can run yourself.
This site is the work, not a brochure about it.
The best proof I can give you is the thing you are reading it on. rosebutcher.com is a live example of exactly what I build. Judge the method by the result in front of you.
I needed a site that practised what I sell. It had to load instantly, read clearly for a busy or neurodivergent founder, and be structured so AI search could actually find and quote me. No page builder, no bloat, no gap between the advice and the evidence. If I tell you speed and structure matter, my own site has to prove I mean it.

The last piece of the puzzle is AI citations, whether tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity actually name you when someone asks. That is the newest thing in search, and it is the hardest to prove. So I will be straight with you: the foundations that make citation possible are built into every page here, and I am tracking my own citation performance now so I can show real numbers as they land. What I can already prove is the speed, the structure and the schema, all of which you can inspect yourself in about two minutes. The results I am building come next, and you will see them here first.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a website "AI-first" rather than just well built?
A normal site is built to look good and rank in Google. An AI-first site does that and adds the structure AI search needs to read and quote you: clean semantic HTML, Person, Service and FAQ schema, clear definitions and answerable content. The goal is not only to be found, but to be the source AI names when someone asks it a question.
How many pages do I get and how long does it take?
A standard build is up to six pages plus the required legal pages, hand-coded in Next.js and deployed to Vercel. Most builds run three to five weeks depending on how ready your content is. If you need more than six pages or e-commerce, we scope it on a call.
Will my site actually be fast, or just fast on paper?
Both. The build targets 100 on desktop across all four PageSpeed categories, and you can run the test yourself on this very site before you commit. Speed is not a nice-to-have. It affects rankings, conversions and whether people stay long enough to read you.
Do you work from my existing brand, or design from scratch?
Either. I can build around your existing brand and assets, or design the whole thing from a blank page if you do not have one yet. What I will not do is bolt your brand onto a template and call it bespoke.
Can you prove AI is quoting the sites you build?
Honestly, that is the newest and hardest thing to prove, and I would rather tell you the truth than sell you a number I cannot stand behind. The foundations that make AI citation possible are built into every page, and I am tracking citation performance on this site now so I can show real data as it comes in. What I can prove today is the speed, the structure and the schema, all of which you can inspect yourself.
What do I need to have ready before we start?
Ideally your copy, or at least a clear idea of what each page needs to say, plus any brand assets and logins. If your content is not ready, I can help shape it as part of the project. The build goes faster when the words are sorted, so that is usually where we start.
How much does a build cost?
Builds start from £3,500 for up to six pages plus the required legal pages. The exact figure depends on page count, whether copy and design already exist, and any custom features. If you have had an AI Visibility Audit first, that fee credits towards the build.
